Crime and Illegal Immigration Will Be Major Midterm Issues

Crime and Illegal Immigration Will Dominate the Midterms

Erika Kirk comforts Iryna Zarutska’s mother Anna at the State of the Union Address

Stephen Federico stood before Congress and unleashed raw fury. The father of 22-year-old Logan Federico screamed at Democrats about the system that failed his daughter. A career criminal with 39 arrests and 25 felonies dragged Logan from her bed, forced her to her knees, and executed her in cold blood. That monster walked free because politicians, prosecutors, and judges chose leniency over public safety time and time again. Federico’s testimony remains one of the most powerful and heartbreaking moments of the past year. One grieving father’s uncontrolled rage cuts through every carefully worded press release and every misleading statistic. It exposes the truth that no amount of data manipulation can hide.

Crime drives the 2026 midterms because voters have had enough. They reject the revolving door. They demand real accountability.

Republicans Deal in Individuals

Republicans deal in individuals. We hold people responsible for their choices. Violent criminals who prey on the innocent forfeit their right to roam free among decent citizens. When you lock them up, they stop hurting people. When you release them repeatedly on weak bonds, plea deals, and “restorative justice” nonsense, they reoffend and kill again. This principle is simple and ironclad. Democrats and their progressive allies deliberately complicate it with diversion programs, soft-on-crime policies, and an ideology that treats hardened predators as victims of society. Those exact policies created the nightmare that destroyed Logan Federico and shattered her family forever.

The Murder of Iryna Zarutska

The same broken system claimed Iryna Zarutska. The 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee fled the horrors of war in her homeland, seeking safety for herself and her family in America. She arrived in 2022 with her mother, sister, and younger brother. On August 22, 2025, Iryna rode the Charlotte light rail home from work when a repeat offender with more than a dozen prior arrests and a documented history of mental health issues sat behind her. Without any provocation whatsoever, the attacker pulled a knife and stabbed her repeatedly in the back and neck. She died on the filthy train floor as passengers tried desperately to save her. The killer had cycled through the justice system for years on lenient decisions and soft policies. North Carolina’s revolving door kept him on the streets. Iryna escaped Russian bombs and brutal invasion only to be slaughtered by a deranged monster enabled by failed leadership. Her murder shocked the nation and became yet another undeniable symbol of a justice system that protects criminals more than law-abiding victims.

Voters see this pattern clearly. They watched career criminals cycle through the system while devastated families bury their children. They reject the endless excuses from politicians who prioritize ideology over safety.

Illegal Immigration Multiplies the Crisis

This domestic crisis gains even more force when combined with illegal immigration. Americans voted decisively in 2024 for mass deportations and secure borders. That mandate has not changed despite desperate push polls and media spin. Open-border policies under the previous administration released thousands of individuals with criminal records or serious red flags directly into our communities. These tragedies compound the domestic revolving door and multiply public anger heading into November.

Tell Rachel Morin’s family that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at lower rates overall. Tell Laken Riley’s parents the same thing. Tell Jocelyn Nungaray’s loved ones. The claim sounds ridiculous, cold, and deeply insulting in the face of their unbearable pain. An illegal immigrant from El Salvador with prior murder accusations back home raped and murdered Rachel Morin while she walked a peaceful trail in Maryland. A Venezuelan who entered illegally and received release into the American interior bludgeoned nursing student Laken Riley to death while she jogged on a college campus in Georgia. Two Venezuelan illegal immigrants sexually assaulted and murdered 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston after authorities released them with simple notices to appear. Each killer entered or stayed illegally. Each case was completely preventable. Each victim paid the ultimate price for politicians who placed ideology, politics, and virtue signaling above American lives.

Deadly Pattern on American Roads

The deadly pattern extends straight to American roads, where illegal alien truck drivers operate with shocking impunity. At least four named Singh stand out in fatal crashes over just the past year:

  • Manvir Singh caused a violent multi-vehicle crash in Lodi, California, that killed two innocent people before he fled on foot.
  • Harjinder Singh made an illegal U-turn on the Florida Turnpike and killed three people.
  • Jashanpreet Singh’s drug-impaired DUI crash in California killed three more victims.
  • Sukhdeep Singh killed one person in Indiana.

These drivers obtained commercial licenses despite their illegal status. States like California handed them out without regard for immigration enforcement or basic competence. Every single one of these deaths was preventable. American families should not pay this bloody price for failed sovereignty and reckless licensing standards that put profit and ideology ahead of safety.

The Explaining Side Always Loses

Organizations like the Cato Institute and Chamber of Commerce types collapse completely when confronted with these victims. Cato pushes open borders on abstract philosophical grounds and hides behind selective aggregate statistics that claim lower overall crime rates. The Chamber prioritizes cheap labor and short-term business interests over the safety of American citizens. Their charts, GDP arguments, and economic rationalizations fail miserably against the faces of murdered Americans. In politics, if you’re explaining, you’re losing. Voters don’t want lectures about net fiscal impact or overall crime rates. They want straight answers about why these specific monsters walked our streets, rode our trains, and drove our highways.

Republicans Hold the Advantage

Republicans hold the clear advantage because we speak plainly and forcefully. Lock up violent criminals. Deport criminal illegal aliens. Prioritize American citizens first. Despite measurable drops in violent crime in 2025, high-profile failures and persistent public perception keep this issue burning hot. Voters reward results and moral clarity, not nuanced defenses of failed experiments or philosophical debates about open borders.

The American people rejected the revolving door in 2024. They stand ready to reject it again in 2026. The side that stands with Stephen Federico, with Iryna Zarutska’s family, with the families of Rachel, Laken, and Jocelyn, and with every parent demanding simple justice will prevail.

We deal in individuals. We demand accountability. Anything less betrays the victims and betrays the country.
