Make Their Shame Visible
“I myself will lift up your skirts over your face, and your shame will be seen.” — Jeremiah 13:26 (ESV)
Read that again. God isn’t asking politely. He isn’t negotiating. He is declaring judgment on a people who forgot Him, chased after idols, trusted in lies, and lived in spiritual adultery. The image is brutal on purpose: skirts lifted over the face, naked shame exposed for all to see. No covering. No excuses. No quiet retreat into the shadows.
That is exactly where we are with Senate Democrats right now.
We are in the largest U.S. military engagement since Afghanistan. American forces are striking Iran. Reports of civilian casualties—including a missile hit on a girls’ school—are already circulating. At home, the partial DHS shutdown is in its third week. Border Patrol agents, ICE officers, TSA screeners, Coast Guard personnel, Secret Service agents—tens of thousands unpaid, stretched thin, while cartels and threats don’t take a holiday. Democrats have killed funding vote after funding vote (51-45 cloture failures, over and over), demanding “guardrails” on enforcement they know full well will handcuff the very people protecting us.
And they simultaneously refuse to let the SAVE America Act (S. 1383) move forward—the bill requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register for federal elections, strict photo ID to vote, real restrictions on mail-in ballots, and aggressive purges of non-citizens from voter rolls. This is the same bill that passed the House again in February on near party-line votes. The same bill President Trump has called his No. 1 legislative priority. The same bill that enjoys 70–80% public support—including majorities of Black voters, Hispanic voters, and even many Democrats—because the American people understand one simple truth: elections should be for citizens only.
Democrats have no political leg to stand on. None.
If they truly believed secure borders matter in wartime and secure elections matter in a republic, they would vote yes on a combined package. Instead, they obstruct both. So we stop playing nice. We stop pulling skirts over our own heads in some misguided hope of bipartisanship. We lift their skirts over their faces and make their shame visible to every voter in America.
This is brute-force, smashmouth politics. And it is exactly what the moment demands.
Here is how it happens on the Senate floor—right now, if leadership has the spine.
A Republican senator—Mike Lee as the bill’s sponsor, John Thune as Majority Leader, or any member with guts—stands during morning business and says plainly: “Mr. President, I move that the Senate proceed to Calendar No. [whatever number], S. 1383, the SAVE America Act.”
That’s all it takes. Any senator can force the issue. Democrats will immediately try to filibuster the motion. Republicans give zero ground—no unanimous consent time agreements, no off-ramps. We force a genuine talking filibuster. Democrats have to produce bodies and voices around the clock or they lose the floor. Republicans stay locked in—every member present for every vote, rotating short, scorching speeches: “Why are you shutting down pay for border agents while we fight Iran? Why do you refuse to require proof of citizenship before someone votes in our elections?”
Once the motion to proceed is adopted (after cloture or Democratic exhaustion), the hammer falls. The floor manager rises: “Mr. President, I send an amendment to the desk. I ask unanimous consent that the reading be dispensed with.”
The amendment is an amendment in the nature of a substitute. It strikes everything after the enacting clause of S. 1383 and inserts new text that marries two non-negotiable priorities:
- The full SAVE America Act: documentary proof of citizenship (birth certificate, passport, REAL ID indicating citizenship) for federal voter registration; strict nationwide photo ID to cast a ballot; verification requirements for mail-in/absentee voting; mandatory purges of non-citizens from rolls.
- The full appropriations language ending the DHS partial shutdown: funding ICE, CBP, TSA, Coast Guard, Secret Service, CISA, FEMA at the requested levels—no Democratic “guardrails,” no curbs on enforcement.
This becomes the pending bill. Clean. Focused. Parliamentarian-vetted in advance.
Now the talking filibuster turns nuclear. Republicans control yields—only short, devastating speeches: “The American people are watching Democrats filibuster funding for agents protecting our homeland in wartime while they also filibuster requiring you prove you are a citizen to vote in our elections.” Procedural votes every few hours—table amendments, cloture attempts—each one a fresh roll call Democrats must own on camera.
Leadership whips every procedural vote to at least 51. No defections. No excuses. President Trump keeps the public heat on Thune and the conference every single day. After days of exhaustion—or sooner if a handful of moderates crack—cloture is filed and invoked (60 votes), followed by final passage on a simple majority. The House takes it up fast under suspension or rules. The President signs.
That is how we lift their skirts over their faces. No quiet procedural kills. No backroom deals. Just raw, public exposure of their obstruction on two issues the country overwhelmingly supports.
This is no time for pulling skirts over our heads. This is for real.
Mr. Miyagi didn’t teach Daniel to negotiate with bullies—he taught him to face them, train hard, and strike decisively when the moment came. The wise counsel is the same here: no retreat, no half-measures, no false hope in “comity.” Brute force is the path to victory.
Senators Thune, Lee, Cornyn, Cruz, and every Republican with a spine: bring it to the floor. Now.
Readers in Texas and across the country: call your senators. Tag them on X. Demand they act. Amplify this column. Make sure every American sees the shame when it is lifted for all to see.
Because in the end, the American people will render judgment.
And they deserve to see the truth plainly.
