Dateline: Holy Monday Edition
Holy Week Traditions: Holy Monday

On Holy Monday, the second day of Holy Week, Christians across various branches commemorate key moments from scripture, such as Jesus’ anointing at Bethany (John 12:1–11) or the cleansing of the temple (Mark 11:15–19), with practices that emphasize spiritual preparation for the Passion. Eastern Orthodox churches observe structured, mystical services like Bridegroom Matins, focusing on repentance and fasting, while Catholics blend liturgy-through Masses and penance-with regional traditions like Mediterranean processions, fostering reflection on Christ’s humility and sacrifice.
Passover Arson in Pennsylvania
The suspect told state troopers that he used homemade Molotov cocktails to set the mansion on fire and that he would have beaten Shapiro with a hammer if he had encountered him inside.
I’m not going to post a picture of this jerkwag, but I he looks like he’s straight from Central Casting. If you asked ChatGPT to make an antifa Barbie action figure, it would generate him. I hope they lock him up and throw away the key.
The Texas Governor’s Mansion was severely damaged by a similar arson attack all the way back in 2008. A a Molotov cocktail was thrown onto the front porch starting a fire that spread rapidly. The mansion, a historic Greek Revival structure built in 1856, was undergoing renovations at the time, so no one was present, and no injuries occurred. The fire caused extensive damage, particularly to the second floor and roof, with repair costs estimated at $21 million. The blaze destroyed much of the interior, including historic woodwork, though some artifacts were saved.
Investigators confirmed arson after finding evidence of the device and ruling out accidental causes. Despite a $10,000 reward and extensive efforts by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the ATF, and FBI, no suspect has been identified, and the case remains unsolved. The mansion was restored by 2012, preserving its historical integrity. Posts found on X occasionally reference the incident, often speculating about motives or linking it to political unrest, but no new evidence has emerged. The lack of resolution keeps it a lingering topic in Texas history.
I am saddened and deeply disturbed to learn about the arson attack on @GovernorShapiro‘s residence in Harrisburg.
I am praying for him and for his family’s safety, and I am grateful to the law enforcement and first responders who acted quickly to bring them to safety.

A generic condemnation is the best Chuck Schumer could do. I suppose it’s better than endorsement by silence. The fact that Chuck Schumer is a Jew himself and he can’t call out an antisemitic arson attack on a fellow Jew is disgusting.
Stephen Miller Schools Ignorant Reporters
Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller has been on one lately.
What do you think would happen to him if he came back to this country based on your understanding of immigration laws? Does anyone want to guess? Any of you? Do any of you know? You’ve been talking about it for days. … Do any of you know the difference between a deportation order and a withholding order? Any of you? Do you?
(mealy mouthed reporter) “Well, we’re not in the government.”
You couldn’t even spend 72 hours over the weekend learning the distinction even though you’ve been talking about it this whole time?
And boom goes the dynamite. That’s how you reverse the narrative. I’m just an information security guy who blogs and I know the difference. As Jay Z said, “I ain’t passed the bar, but I know a little bit.” The only choice an illegal alien has is returning to his home country or a third country if his home country is not an option. That’s it. Returning here is not an option.
Here’s the full exchange:
Bill Hemmer got the same schooling on Fox News this morning. N.B. I think a lot of Hemmer and he’s a straight shooter. Miller needed to make his point and making a point from the right takes more work than a Chavismo framing. The Left speaks to people like they’re offering gummy bears for dinner to a three year old.
The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 in a smackdown of the district court judge who overstepped her authority and the infringement on the rightful exercise of Executive power. They used the phrase “facilitate the return” to describe their order relating to the individual illegal. The DOJ did that by asking the President of El Salvador to send him back. President Bukele said “nope”. It’s over and Democrats like Sen. Van Hollen are not happy about it.
President Bukele is proving to be a good friend to the United States. He’s absolutely right about what the Democrats did by opening the border and letting in tens of millions of illegals. Defending the border is underway once again, but removing these illegals is going to take time and making difficult by bogging the removal process in friendly Democrat district courts was part of the plan from the outset. That’s why the diligent use of Executive power is so urgent.

Senator Liz “Taxing Eagle” Warren comes to the acceptance stage of presidential authority:
“Congress has a job right now, and that is to step up and take this authority away from Donald Trump. He has proven how he will use it. But remember the statute that he’s now using starts with a declaration of emergency. And in that same statute, Congress has the responsibility to decide is it really an emergency or not? Are we really in an emergency with Belgium right now? Are we really in an emergency with South Korea? Congress can say no, there’s no emergency. It’s a resolution. And if we do that, it takes Donald Trump back to the trade as we had it before. Tariffs are then decided with Congress having an important say in it. That’s an important signal to the rest of the world. Right now it’s a no curbs on Donald Trump and that means chaos and corruption. We have an opportunity in Congress to vote that down and to say, no, we are going to use tariffs in a far more targeted way.”
Presidents have had tariff authority for over half a century.
Trump’s Tariff Move
President Trump raised the tariffs on China to 145%, but kept the tariff on Taiwan at 32%. That’s a subtle shot at the “One China” policy which we should drop like a smoking habit. I fully expect we will by the end of the decade if Trump crushes CCP like Reagan crushed the Soviets. I’m 55% positive on that. Not to hedge, but simply because it’s an uncertain future with so much of the Left now holding a power center within the Democrat party. Let’s see what happens in the 2026 and 2028 elections and then I’ll be able to give a more accurate number. That’s keeping it real, folks.
BTW, people don’t understand markets when they talk about “items costing 145% more”. Let me say this about that. If you can even find a store that will stock those items. Store shelves are extremely valuable commodities for merchants and sellers. This is why our cars aren’t sold in Germany, our textiles and clothing aren’t sold in Vietnam and the rest of SE Asia, and we can’t sell toothpaste, brushes, and floss in Britain. We are tariffed completely out of those markets. This is why Trump is taking the action he is.
Let me break it down for you. If flip flops made by women or Uygur slaves in China cost $20 at Walmart, the tariffed price is $29. That opens up a market for American made flerp flerps. I want to price my product competitively against that. But not the new price, the original pre-tariff price. I want to get as close to a profitable price as the market will bear. That means I have a lot of wiggle room. I’d expect American manufacturers to target $25, but they may get as low as $22.
It may also be the case that they could match or even price lower than the original Chinese price because the market opened up for them. Nobody would even try to set up new or expand existing operations if they weren’t certain they could be competitive. Now they most certainly will. Your patriotic Chinese flip flops will be replaced by American made flip flops. Ermahgerd! The consumers take a mild hit at the register, but all of that economic activity is a net benefit to America, starting with the jobs created. And China is off the shelves. Here endeth the lesson.
Barbie/Action Figure Memes
Who wants high school football action figure of The Bish? When I was in high school, it was football and Led Zeppelin, and that was pretty much it. It’s still shocking to see how small the pads they use now are compared to the ones we used in the 80s.
